Guardianship

When a family member or friend becomes incapacitated due to illness, you may be called upon to be appointed a guardian – that is, the person legally responsible to organize the affairs of someone permanently unable to do so, with medical decisions, banking and government officialdom. As this usually comes unexpectedly, or at a time earlier than you would have wished, it will be neccesary to petition the Family Court for an appointment. As frequently happens, the appointment is required immediately, such as for medical treatment, and a temporary appointment must be sought as well. An experienced attorney can help with the neccesary advice, documents and filing with the Court, so as to relieve this stressful period.

he Rubin Law Office has extensive expertise in guiding and representing clients through the neccesary legal procedures, with the sensitivity and swiftness required in this difficult time.
